Toronto Fashion Week just wrapped up and, as always, the people-watching was amazing. Sequins were shining, fur was flying, girls showed off in power prints and boys represented in bright blazers. But this season, it seemed like the lower-key looks got all the attention. The Fashion Week paparazzi passed over girls in sky-high heels and went crazy for style bloggers in sneakers. The over-the-top gowns might look amazing on the runway but outside the tents, sweatshirts, jeans and ball caps looked right at home. Blame it on normcore or our collective obsession with street style but even the fashion pack wants to keep it real right now. 

One of my favourite trends for spring '15? Denim, of course. We all wear it, we all live in it, and even though it's been around for decades, it manages to look new every single season. From ripped white skinnies to dark seventies flares, there are so many fresh ways to wear denim right now. Whether you already own loads of pairs or are ready to update your collection, the stores are filled with plenty of covetable pairs you'll want to add to your closet this spring. Don't say I didn't warn you ;)

We're all feeling it right now. The deep freeze doneness. The all-black boredom. That all-consuming craving for brightness, lightness and warmth. Since we can't promise that the forecast is going to turn around anytime soon, it's up to us to do something about it. Luckily, our clothing is something we can control, so let's steer away from the black and grey for a moment shall we? Mention Valentine's to any group and you're guaranteed to score a few eye-rolls and looks of disdain. Valentine's? Seriously? We don't NEED Valentine's to show that we love each other. It's such a cheesy holiday. Red roses are SO obvious. 

And it is. And they are. But there's something about having young kids and never having time for a coffee break let alone a proper night out, that makes me pine for the days of long stems and dinner dates. Sure Valentine's is a little cheesy. But as life gets busier, it's kind of nice to be reminded of the need for romance. As long as they're tulips, not roses. Oh, and I hear Colette is still taking reservations. Ahem. Whether you want to go all Bachelor-style with OTT displays of contrived romance or prefer to pass the day like any other, there's no denying that red & pink is a combo to love. 

This Valentine's I've fallen head over heels for these two pretty shades. I adore either colour worn head-to-toe but especially love when you pair red & pink together. PRET-A-PARTY | 3 Rocking NYE Outfits

New Year's Eve always turns out to be a toss-up. Do you brave the crowds to party in public, risking over-priced everything for the possibility of an epic night, or just keep it cozy at home with your favourites? Do you ring in the New Year with reams of ambitious resolutions or just chalk it up to another day like all the rest? I'm the last-minute type when it comes to NYE decisions. Right now, I'm debating between an 11th hour trip to the LCBO for bubbly or begging my mom to watch our kids so we can hit up our favourite restaurant (if we can get in...not likely, I know...), but no matter what we end up doing tonight, there will be sequins. Oh yes, there will be sequins. Because whether you make it maje or opt to keep it low-key, a brand new year deserves a seriously memorable outfit.

Walking through the mall this month is like a really great binge-watch of Netflix. There's drama (MO-OM, you are SO embarassing!), there's intrigue (will she like it? will she loathe it?), and of course, that edge-of-your-seat, nail-biting terror (only 20 days left?!).

It goes without saying that the clock starts ticking more insistently than usual this time of year, leaving even the most organized among us in a panic. But is this all necessary? Can we just take a collective step back and put this in perspective? Can we try for a minute to remember what this is all about in the first place? Um, no. No we can't.
