WINTER STYLE CLASS | How to Bundle Up Like a Ski Bunny

The real cold has finally arrived and so, our annual Canadian bundling ritual has begun. Like so many of you, I can't live without my oven-mitt-sized mittens, my cozy blanket scarves, my oversized parka and, of course, my trusty boots to handle any blizzards that come my way.

While I refuse to sacrifice my warmth, I still want to look cute. I mean, if you have to choose between looking like a 3rd-grader or a ski-wielding supermodel, is there really any question? From the slopes to the après, I'm taking my winter style cues this year from the experts. Luckily, you don't need to know how to slalom to score that icy-cool vibe that ski bunnies from Aspen to the Alps have perfected. From furry trapper hats and pretty parkas to the layers that bring the whole look together, I've put together 3 super cute winter outfits to take your cold-weather style to new heights. We're all feeling it right now. The deep freeze doneness. The all-black boredom. That all-consuming craving for brightness, lightness and warmth. Since we can't promise that the forecast is going to turn around anytime soon, it's up to us to do something about it. Luckily, our clothing is something we can control, so let's steer away from the black and grey for a moment shall we? I've found 15 bright ideas to help you beat your winter wardrobe blahs, with pieces that you can wear both now and later. The end of Feb is only a handful of days away so I can't think of a better time to brighten up. Happy (almost) March!

Black + Camel + Gold

I love wearing all black but find that unless you change up the textures, it can get really boring, really fast. Which is why I am loving these tone-on-tone polka-dot pants from Joe Fresh. Even if you don't like printed bottoms, the print and the price are palatable. I like to top my black off with a classic camel coat (you need one), and, of course, some cheap, cheerful ski-bunny accessories like these fingerless gloves and pom pom toque, also from Joe Fresh. And while I like certain statement necklaces, the whole massive statement jewel necklace worn over a done-up blouse, worn over a sweater, is all starting to look a little bit been-there-worn-that. My new fav thing? A long gold pendant necklace. I currently own a few beauties - the one pictured is Gorjana from Shopbop, and I also love the Rebel Pendant from Stella & Dot.

As you know, I don't do a lot of outfit posts here (which is why you should follow me on Instagram, svp), because my husband is not the most willing photographer. I don't get what he does with all his time. As if starting a business is more important than taking pictures of my outfits. Honestly....men ;)

It's cold. (HOW COLD IS IT??) Glad you asked - it's so cold that Anna Wintour looks warm. So cold that Miley Cyrus is wearing clothes. So cold that all the members of One Direction are pointing south. For the record, I made those up. Really, there's nothing else to do - it's SO cold.
