SO SHADY | J. Crew's First Ever Sunglasses Collection Is Finally Here

As someone who can't help herself around sunglasses, I'm always on the lookout for fresh new specs to add to my collection. So when I found out that J.Crew launched its first-ever sunglasses collection today, I had to share the news (and pretty pics) with you.

J.Crew partnered up with NYC-based Marchon for its first collection, featuring scratch-resistant, 100% UV protected lenses. The frames are made entirely by hand in high quality acetate and the sleek and supposedly super-stable hinge was designed by Dame Jenna Lyons herself. With 5 women's and 3 men's styles, the collection features a variety of fun prints and colours that are seriously toying with my shopping self-control.

Check out the collection for yourself. The sunglasses are available now in J.Crew stores or online at jcrew.com and range in price from $128-$168 CDN.

Hmmm...I'm thinking the top-right tortoises. And you?

3 Style Secrets You Need to Know

Pretty pics from the J.Crew Fall '13 Style Guide. Photos via J.Crew

Originally posted in The Fashion Scoop

Birthday cards are lovely, party invites delightful, but nothing makes me more excited than the arrival of the J.Crew catalogue. I love to shop J.Crew but since I can't afford to indulge too often in the clothes themselves, I like to shop the catalogue (or the J.Crew Pinterest boards) for inspiration. Because nobody styles quite like J.Crew; They know how to layer and mix and match and mismatch, always finding things that you wouldn't think would go together, but somehow, they do...

Let's. Play. Ball.

Nothing hides a bad hair day quite as sweetly as a borrowed-from-the-boys baseball cap and every in-demand model, actress, & editrix is wearing one right now.  Sadly, my boy doesn't own any baseball hats (baldophobia, I think), and my old, once-perfectly-worn-in hats from highschool just aren't cutting it anymore. I missed the boat on this piece of Liberty Art Strawberry Thief magnificence from J.Crew (sold out faster than a MLB World Series match - Go, Jays, Go!), but at $92, I don't really think I could have justified the spend.

Luckily, this adorable floral cap from Madewell just arrived and I can't wait to buy it. Madewell teamed up with Biltmore Hats, the famed almost century-old Canadian haberdashery, to create a cute cotton baseball cap inspired by an actual vintage floral photo, and it will add a perfect printed pop to all of my spring and summer looks. Pretty! Update: Just bought it! When I said I couldn't wait...

Good Things Come in Threes

Printed Long Sleeve Blouse in Turquoise, Red and Blue, $39 each, Smart Set

Perforated Oxford in Oslo Gray, Yellow and Camel, $69.95 per pair, Gap

Women's Stripe Rash Guard in Navy, Frosted Lilac and Positano Blue, $90 each, J.Crew

From a very early age, my mom taught me the value of threes.  Her style math boiled down to this: even = bad, odd = good.  Just for kicks, I would often offer to set the table if we were having dinner guests and would purposely put two candles in two candle-holders in the middle of the table.  Even if she was at the opposite end of the house, my mom could instantly sense the dissonance.  She'd beeline it to the dining room and stand in the doorway, a look of confusion, discomfort even, crossing her lovely face.  Out came the third candle holder, a little 45 degree turn to the right (to give the arrangement a certain je-ne-sais-quoi) and balance was restored. Ahhh..that's better.  Call it Granny's Mantel, matchy-matchy or classic feng shui but I have to admit that I feel the same way.  Good things always come in threes, don't you think? Hmmm...does this mean I should buy 3 of each?

Currently Coveting: J.Crew Fall 2013

Photos courtesy of J.Crew

It's no secret that I adore all things J.Crew, but when I think of the brand, I think amazing colour, super fabrics, great cuts, preppy, preppy, preppy - I don't usually think of the exotic. When I spied the new Fall '13 collection from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, my adoration went to a whole new level and since Valentine's is tomorrow, I just had to share the love.  J.Crew's Head of Women's Design Tom Mora took an impromptu trip to Morocco at the end of last season and was clearly inspired - it's like Heathers goes to Marrakech. It's like a master class in how to mix and match colours/patterns/prints.  It's like my wardrobe fantasy.  I would actually be willing to skip summer just so I can wear look 1, look 7, look 30 (the black & white striped top, black coat, white pants) and that navy/cognac ensemble. And even though I've never really understood people who like purple, I think I finally get the appeal. Okay, I can't even look at these pics anymore - I literally just watched my wallet burrow itself right into the bottom of my handbag.
