WHAT TO WEAR TO WORK (When Getting Dressed Is The Last Thing You Want to Do)

via Atlantic-Pacific

Originally posted in The Fashion Scoop

When the sun is shining, the last thing on most of our minds is work. Summer is a tough time to stay motivated - whether it's tackling a big project or simply getting dressed every day. After all, with our Facebook feeds loaded with pics of cottages, camping trips and epic road trips (#blessed), it's tempting to just toss on our flip flops and call it a day.

Since most of us need to work so we can play, I thought I'd try to help with a little sartorial motivation. These pretty summer pieces will make getting dressed for work just a little more enticing. And you know my philosophy on this - if getting motivated involves shopping, I'm always game :)

THE SHORT LIST | 3 Ways to Slay In Shorts This Summer

via H&M

Originally posted in The CLOSET

In the hot, hot heat, I'm always on the hunt for ways to keep cool. And while I won't deny the power of a perfect little dress to wile away a heatwave, I feel like right now is the perfect time to revisit an often-underappreciated basic: the short. Sure, simple shorts & a tee are fine when you're just chilling on your back deck. But there's a plethora of potential locked up in your shorties just waiting to get out. Like a backup singer who finally gets her chance to headline, think of your shorts as an untapped talent in need of a really good manager.

This summer, make your white cut-offs street style stars by pairing them up with perfect partners. Try an all-white base, then throw a long flowy vest over top. Or pair your white shorts with an on-point top (try a black lace-up bodysuit, tank or tee depending on your comfort level), on-fleek feet (block heels or ghillie ties - yes, please) plus a black bandana and statement shades to help cement your cool girl status.

Not so down with high hemlines? You can still rock shorts by going with the flow. A pair of flowy shorts teamed with a crisp white off-the-shoulder top look effortlessly chic on a steamy summer day.

Speaking of short, time to get back to our way-too-short summer. Hope these next weeks feel extra loooong. Scroll down for summer short outfit inspo - enjoy!

When faced with a hot summer day, looking cool is always the goal. Summer clothes are supposed to be carefree and easy, but so many of us struggle with going beyond what we already know - whether it's shorts and a tee or our fave summer dress. And so, we simply stick with our go-to's and go.

While summer might seem like the perfect time to chill out, may I suggest chilling in something just a little more interesting? ONE & DONE | 35 Dresses We Can't (& Won't) Wait to Wear

There's something that happens once you have kids. Okay, there are a lot of things that happen once you have kids. But specifically, there's this thing regarding invitations. In my early 20's, I'd get invites to weddings and be like, 'Awww, seriously? Another wedding??' I'd look at my summer calendar and all of my weekends would be completely booked up with wedding after wedding which a) got very expensive, hence taking away all the money I'd been saving for fun things like shoes (but what should have been a down-payment on a house) and b) took away all the precious time I could have been spending at a friend's cottage or at the beach or going to clubs. When you're young and single, you get invites to fun parties all the time and you can't possibly appreciate it. Or at least I didn't...

FIESTA FASHION | 15 Bright Finds to Get the Party Started

via Harper's Bazaar

Originally posted in The Fashion Scoop

Between this week's groundbreaking CHANEL Cruise presentation in Havana (watch it below), to yesterday's Cinco de Maya celebrations, I'm officially ready for a fiesta. The Chanel show eased its way into the party, with sophisticated neutrals gradually evolving into a full spectrum of happy brights. Cinco de Mayo, meanwhile, always heads straight for the piñata, with revelers rocking ruffles, beads and every colour of the rainbow each year until the sun sets(or the guacamole runs out).

If you missed both parties (still waiting for my invite, Karl), don't despair. Now is the perfect time to start infusing playful brights into your wardrobe to get your own party started...
