Mary Katrantzou for Topshop

Head-to-toe prints are not for the faint of heart, and require a deft and daring darling to pull them off. To properly mix, match, and colour clash, the wearer often wobbles on that fine line between cute and kitsch. Sometimes, it only takes a shoe or bag to throw the whole look off balance, or, in the best of circumstances, to give the outfit an epiphanous AHA! If the runways of the past few seasons are any indication of what's to come, the full-bodied print is set to become the new way of dressing. Yikes!
Well, fear not my little solid-wearing stylistas - The Bay just sent me these pics from the new Mary Katrantzou for Topshop collection set to hit Topshop at Yorkdale Mall in March, and the UK's reigning print-cess makes wearing pattern easy. If you're lucky enough to scoop up one of her divine creations, you'll catapult yourself right to the fashion front lines. The collection ranges from $75 to $630 which, in relative terms, is a total steal for a Katrantzou confection, esp. since this collaboration is so similar to her runway wares. If you don't want to fork over that much cash, take a cue from Katrantzou; go matchy-matchy with your pants and shirt, or mix it up by wearing contrasting prints in similar colour tones. Most importantly: be bold, be confident, and own it with your own little Jagger swagger.
Check out more pics from the collection here. I'm already thinking of ways to justify that $360 long-sleeved dress to my husband. That dress would make me stick to a budget. That dress would make me exercise more. I would buy McCafe instead of Starbucks lattes for an entire year for that dress. Can I call it my Fashion Week uniform? Are floral dresses ever considered a valid business expense?
