Pics from the Rag & Bone Party at Holt Renfrew

All pics by me (except for the ones of me, in which case, I'll give the credit to rlr mini)

I'll be very frank here (Hi, I'm Frank. ha ha) - I'm swamped, I leave on vacation in 2 days, and I don't have enough time to do a proper post. Still, I've been wanting to share these pics from the rag & bone party at Holt Renfrew that rlr mini and I were lucky enough to be invited to the other week. And so, here they are. The party was super amazing with a crazy good DJ, cotton candy and pretzel stands and designers David Neville and Marcus Wainwright on hand so naturally, we had the best time. If you can afford to buy rag & bone, head to Holt Renfrew and they'll hook you up with something cool.

We also had a few too many glasses of wine and both forgot our real cameras. So, there it is. #bloggerfail. This is what happens when you're let out of the house, out of the reach of toddlers for a few hours...

Thanks, Holts, for letting us crash your party xx

Holt Renfrew's Blaire Borins in her Rag & Bone jeans and killer points.

Everyone was all over a trench with leather sleeves but we wanted this dreamy blazer

This is what the blazer does to you #magical

They had real live graffiti artists on hand to make this mural - because that's how rag & bone rolls...

Brittany Barkwell of Holt Renfrew rocks a gorge white rag & bone dress. Lurv.

Yup, we're clever like that.

Leaving my RLR mark on the graffiti wall. P.S - Those are shadows, not eyebrows...

Check out my little Vine video from the party...

Tiger of Sweden Opens in Toronto

The new Tiger of Sweden Toronto flagship at 56 Ossington Ave.

Whether it's edgy songstresses (Lykke Li, anyone?), famously well-dressed Stockholm Street Style-ers or wicked home décor, Sweden always seems to be at the cusp of what's cool. One of the country's coolest exports, Tiger of Sweden, officially fêted its new Toronto flagship last night with the city's fashion elite at its brand new Ossington Street store.

Established in 1903, Tiger of Sweden's philosophy focuses on modern design and perfect fit.  “Internationally, Scandinavian fashion is receiving well-deserved recognition for its distinct aesthetic, attractive cuts and cool factor,” said David Thunmarker, CEO of Tiger of Sweden. “As a brand, we’re thrilled about the opportunity to present our collections in a discerning and fashion-forward market such as Toronto.”

The 3,600 sq. ft. Toronto flagship carries the men's and women's Tiger of Sweden and Tiger of Sweden/ Jeans Collections as well as footwear and accessories.

Check out pretty people pics from last night's party below (Photos by Ryan Emberley) xx

Nordstrom Coming to Yorkdale!

A pretty pic from the Nordstrom March 2013 Catalogue - photo courtesy Nordstrom.

A rendering of the future Yorkdale Nordstrom. I'll be the happy girl with the shopping bags.

I'm constantly on the lookout for exciting retails news but am especially happy when it arrives on a Monday. Well here it is - Nordstrom just confirmed that it will open at Yorkdale Mall in the Fall of 2016. Wheehoo! The three-level, 188,000 sq. ft. Nordstrom will carry the full line of luxury clothing, shoes and accessories that we've come to expect from the American department store.  Yorkdale keeps getting better (and bigger) with its continued expansion - an impressive number of big-name retailers like Kate Spade, Ted Baker and All Saints are already open with David Yurman, John VarvatosMulberry, White House/Black Market and Zara Home all set to open later this year.

As already announced, Nordstrom will also be opening stores in the vacated Sears locations at Chinook Centre in Calgary (opening Fall 2014),  Pacific Centre in Vancouver,  and Rideau Centre in Ottawa (both opening Spring 2015) as well as a brand new store at Sherway Gardens in Toronto (Fall 2016).

Can't wait to shop Nordstrom without having to cross the border.  Pretty exciting, huh?  I have visions of shoes upon shoes floating around in my head. How's a girl supposed to work with this many distractions??

Happy Monday! xx

Back in Black: The Joe Fresh Fall '13 Show

Canadian supermodel Heather Marks goes Parisian punk at the Joe Fresh Fall 2013 show

The crazy pre-show scene at World MasterCard Fashion Week

My mad matchy-matchiness from last night (Joe himself approved - yes!)

All runway photos by George Pimentel, Video made by me on Vine

I'm back from World MasterCard Fashion Week and ready to sort out all of my pics from the tents but before I do, had to post photos from last night's Joe Fresh show.  For Fall '13, Joe Mimran was influenced by Paris, the Sex Pistols, and the '90s punk movement, done up almost entirely in black -  a decided departure from the happy brights so synonymous with Joe Fresh.

Though maybe not as universally likeable a collection, it was a really nice change of pace for the brand and I loved the edginess of it all. The studded pieces, the white chunky turtleneck and that liquid black blazer will all be moving into my closet come Fall.  Thoughts? Loves? Leave your comments below and let me know!

Check back soon for more Fashion Week pics from David Dixon, LINE Knitwear, Mackage (amazing show) and more, plus street style snaps I shot at the tents, and a few pics of what I wore. K, time to nap - last night's after-party completely did me in. Zzzz....

20 Questions with Joe Mimran

Joe Mimran of Joe Fresh fame at World MasterCard Fashion Week - Photo courtesy George Pimentel

I didn't think he'd actually respond.  I mean, Joe Mimran is probably the busiest guy in fashion (this week especially) and let's face it - I'm not Flare or The Globe & Mail.  On a whim, I sent 20 questions off to his PR team on Thursday and on Friday, the answers appeared!  Love that he took the time to help a blogger out, LOVE Joe Fresh and can't wait for the Fall '13 show and after-party tonight at World MasterCard Fashion Week. Squee!

Read on for what’s on his playlist, how he likes his martini, and what really makes Joe Fresh tick.

 1. Which of your collections are you most proud of so far?

I am proud of all of my collections, but I am always most excited by the collection I am working on at the moment. And as soon as the show is over I’m already thinking about what will come next

2. Do you get nervous when your wife and daughters go shopping?

No, my wife and children all have excellent taste.

3. What are your favourite restaurants in Toronto?

Harbord Room, Sotto Sotto, Giancarlo

4. Who do you rely on most in your business?

My whole team – every aspect of the business from supply chain to visual merchandising to marketing plays a key role in the success of Joe Fresh.  And of course, our loyal customers.

5.  Slippers vs. dress shoes. Discuss

Slippers – classic and so comfortable.

6. Favourite drink?

Martini – very dry, very cold – shaken.

7.  When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I’ve always loved the arts but balanced my interest in art and design with a business degree.

8. What do you eat every day for breakfast?

Fresh squeezed vegetable juice.

9. What’s one piece from Joe Fresh that every woman should own?

A striped t-shirt.

10.  What is your favourite book?

I recently enjoyed Patti Smith’s inspiring memoir, Just Kids.
