VAWK for eBay by Sunny Fong Launches Today

The collab we've been coveting for Fall has finally arrived! In case you missed it, eBay Canada has partnered up with renowned Canadian fashion designer Sunny Fong of VAWK to create an exclusive collective dubbed VAWK for eBay by Sunny Fong. The limited-edition capsule featuring perfectly edgy black clothing and accessories launches today, all for under $120, with free shipping across Canada.

“We are so excited to bring the quality and luxury of VAWK’s designs to eBay buyers, particularly at such affordable prices,” says Andrea Stairs, country manager, eBay Canada. “The collection’s seven pieces are truly versatile: worn individually they provide an instant update to any fall outfit, while combined they create a complete fashion-forward look.”

“I wanted to create an exclusive collection for eBay of great essentials that can transform a look from day to night, and can give someone a fashion moment,” says Sunny Fong, VAWK. “The pieces stay true to the VAWK aesthetic - each is inspired by our past collections that can be seen in our runway shows.”

The collection is exclusive to eBay and can be found at ebay.ca/vawkforebay.  The sale runs from today until to September 15, 2013, or while supplies last.  Since the tie already sold out within hours, we don't expect the collection to stay put for more than a few days.  Go, get on it! I already bought the capelet.

Sneak Peek: The Banana Republic L'Wren Scott Holiday Collection

Photos courtesy Banana Republic

Banana Republic has already teamed up with well-known designers like Milly and Issa, so the announcement of another collab wasn't a huge surprise. But here's the shocking part: this time BR has wooed none other than the notoriously exclusive L'Wren Scott. How amazing is this?! The 6'3" glamazon designer (and longtime girlfriend of Mick Jagger) is known for her super-luxe, impossibly-expensive designs but with her first big retail collection, looks like Scott is finally ready for mass-marketdom.

Banana Republic Creative Director and Executive Vice President of Design, Simon Kneen says, “We share an appreciation for genuine luxury, beautiful fabrics and unexpected details. The designs created for this collection bring a modern approach to pieces you will love forever.”

“A partnership of this scale was a first for me, and I was very excited to find a true partner in Simon,” says L’Wren Scott. “Through this collection, we were able to bring our shared vision to life and the end result is a capsule we’re both so proud to call our own. It beautifully combines the ultra-feminine with wearable polish and will bring a sexy confidence to our consumers.”

The limited-edition Banana Republic L’Wren Scott Collection is designed to inspire glam holiday parties out on the town or at home.  The more than 50-piece collection includes apparel and accessories for women, ranging from sequin party dresses and bejewelled cardigans, to feminine, tailored jeans and lace dresses, plus accessories like chain-handled clutches (that double as jewellery), striped cashmere blankets, berets and totes.

Three original prints are featured prominently throughout the capsule. A dramatic lip print (a Rolling Stone reference?), a print of romantic peonies, and finally, a candy stripe of black, Ultra Violet, Poster Red and Lipstick Red. Not a big fan of the red/purple/black combo but for the legendary L'Wren, I'm willing to reconsider.

The capsule launches at select Banana Republic retail locations worldwide and online December 5, 2013, just in time for Christmas shopping. I can name some girls (Me, Myself, and I) who will be putting this right at the top of their lists. Exciting, yes?!

Isabel Marant Teams Up with H&M

OMG. OMG. OH EM GEEEE. H&M has teamed up with Parisian designer Isabel Marant for Fall! The Parisian chicster has attracted legions of devoted fans (myself inclus), hoping to achieve effortless style with her perfect mix of boho ease, urban attitude and rockstar spirit. For H&M, Marant will create a wardrobe of must-have clothing and accessories for women, men, and teens inspired by her signature style.

“I am flattered by this collaboration. H&M works with the best designers, and this invitation is an exciting honour. I aim at creating something real – something women want to wear in their everyday lives, with a certain carefree style. I think this is very Parisian: you dress up, but don’t pay too much attention to it, and you still look sexy. The collection is infused with this kind of easiness and attitude. Everything can be combined following one’s own instincts, and my take on fashion is all about personality,” says Isabel Marant.

No word yet on exactly how the collection will look (I expect Marant is laissez-faire like that), but I hope there are sweaters, tees, and minis and tonight, I will be dreaming of booties. Not Marant's booty - I mean, her shoes, évidemment.

Mark your calendars (and prepare to queue up): The Isabel Marant pour H&M Collection will hit select H&M stores worldwide on November 14th, 2013. Check out the vid below for a glimpse:

Prabal Gurung for Target: Lookbook & Video

Photos courtesy Target

I must admit - I'm feeling awfully tempted to head south this weekend for the this Sunday's arrival of Prabal Gurung for Target.  I mean, it's only an hour away and unlike Buffalo, the Port Huronites seem blissfully blasé when it comes to designer collabs.  (I expected chaos on Missoni opening weekend a few years back and the people working there were like, 'Um, sorry, Miss-who?') Love the fun, bright, crazy affordable collection (ranges from $13 - $200) and am especially smitten after seeing the newly released video starring Olivia Thirlby.

So, how about you? Will you engage in a little border-hopping this weekend to pick up some Prabal? Oh, and if they ask if you have anything to declare, be sure to answer with a, 'Why yes, officer! I LOVE Prabal Gurung!'

Happy Snow Day! Happy Friday! x

Maison Martin Margiela with H&M

Photos courtesy H&M

Okay, so here's the thing.  On occasion, I'll go to an art installation, a book reading or a modern dance performance.  Sometimes, I totally get it;  I can appreciate the beauty and understand the message the artist is trying to convey.  Other times, I'll be like 'huh.'  My bottom lip sticks out just slightly, I nod my head twice and then cock it slightly to the side with a simultaneous brow furrow/index finger to lips as I attempt to look reflective, all the while wondering what I'm missing.  That's kind of how I feel about Maison Martin Margiela.  Part of it I totally get:  the sequined pieces, the oversized peacoat, the plexi wedge heels. Love. Love. Love. (see the gallery below for the pieces I want).

But then there's the other stuff.  Acid wash denim-on-denim.  Skirt/harem pant/asymmetrical jumpsuit. Trompe l'oeil dresses. Models whom you'd likely avoid if encountered on a deserted Parisian rue. 'Huh'. Bottom lip out. Nod head twice. Cock head to side/furrow brow/index finger to lips.

As I mentioned on this site back in June, venerable French fashion house Maison Martin Margiela has joined forces with H&M for an exclusive collaboration, available in select stores worldwide in a few weeks.  "With these Maison Martin Margiela re-editions, some of the most important garments in recent fashion history will be made available at H&M. The pieces are incredibly accurate to the original, and prove how the most radical concept can result in fashion that is both desirable and wearable." Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor to H&M.

Mark your calendars: The Maison Martin Margiela with H&M Collection ranges between $17.95 - $399 and is out in select stores worldwide Nov 15th!  Do you like? Love? Or does it all just make you go 'hmm...'?

PS - Will post my World Mastercard Fashion Week pics tomorrow. So many great shows this year x
