We spent this past long weekend hosting 10 adults and 5 toddlers.  Seemed like a good idea at the time.  Kids, it turns out, are actually worse than tornadoes when it comes to destroying any element of order in a house.  There are wooden blocks and barbies underfoot, psycho-looking dolls hidden in my closet and spaghetti sauce smeared on the walls.  All I could bring myself to do this morning was throw on a sweatshirt, brush my teeth, and take a deep breath before tackling my own little warzone.  The sweatshirt is a sure-fire wardrobe staple for those days when you just want to be comfy.  In the interest of staying fashionable, however, I always like it when an everyday piece can be transformed into something special.  I love how Dries Van Noten took a perfectly sporty raglan sweatshirt and paired it with a sequined skirt and heels.  It's the perfect look for a lunch date or shopping run and the unexpected combo of sporty with sequins will give you instant style cred.  Not that I have any lunch invitations today - just a day-long date with my bottle of Mr. Clean.  Sob.  Real Life Runway Tip:  Make sure the sweatshirt has clean lines like this one from Joe Fresh Style, and buy it a size bigger than you'd normally wear to get the look just right.  This sequined skirt from Club Monaco is an investment but its versatility is incredible.  Pair it with a nautical striped shirt and an army-green utility jacket or wear it with a black blazer when the holidays roll around.  Who would have thought sparkles could be a practical choice?!
