Weekend Update

When the weather starts to heat up, so do our calendars and though the coming months will be filled with loads of backyard barbeques, patio cocktails, and afternoons by the pool, certain occasions call for something just a little more chic than shorts. Whether you're heading for a Mother's Day Brunch, fêting a bride-to-be or oohing and aahing at a baby shower, these three chic spring looks will help you look polished and pretty for any celebration.

A matchy-matchy pencil skirt and blazer in bold cobalt and black are totally on-trend for spring. The top to bottom stripes make a serious statement but when you want to tone it down, you can always pair the blazer with great black pants (or tailored black shorts), a black pencil skirt or even your fave pair of jeans. The patent red clutch helps break up all that pattern.

I loved Blake Lively's super-feminine look with its pretty pastels and intricate lace detailing. Achieve the same pretty vibe with a good pair of white trousers, an eyelet tank and nude heels, then add in a pastel topper - be it the gorgeous blue bomber pictured above, a pastel cropped jacket or a great little cardigan in soft pink, blue, yellow, orange or minty green.

A flowy maxi dress is the easiest way to look put-together, especially for spring when you never know what Mother Nature's going to throw your way (plus it's super forgiving, which means you can say yes to that extra cupcake) Toss on the dress, add a pair of woven sandals (flats or wedges) and you're ready to out-style anyone in the room. When the forecast calls for rain or cooler temps, take a cue from Pippa Middleton and add a cropped white denim jacket for extra warmth.

Belle Noel Wishbone Necklace, $70, The Bay

The Vogue-featured Belle Noel Mini Dagger Necklace, $198, The Bay

Reality star Kim Kardashian, Creative Director of Belle Noel, unveiled her collection of fashion jewellery yesterday during a personal appearance at The Bay Queen Street.

Her latest collection for Belle Noel reflects the feminine glamour of Kim’s aesthetic. The lucky wishbone was a real source of inspiration for Kardashian, who used the iconic symbol as a focal point with glam gold bangles, statement earrings and long pendant necklaces.  Bright enamel pieces in coral, white and purple add fun pops of colour to the collection.

“Going into my second spring season for Belle Noel, I was focused on producing pieces that were reflective of the season; bright, fun and easy to wear. The wishbone really illustrates the warmth and joy I felt through this process and I’m so excited to finally present it to my Canadian customers at The Bay, Queen Street!” says Kim Kardashian.

Insiders who saw the top Kardashian in action yesterday told me that in person, her skin is flawless, her curves are insane and that she's actually really, really sweet.  Arg.  As for the Belle Noel collection, I'm actually kind of krazy about the wishbone pieces and the Mini Dagger Necklace.  And you?

PS - Just found out that Kanye was in fact at The Bay yesterday, too, to support his newest boo.  Eek!

Brad Pitt for Chanel No. 5

Good morning :) Photo courtesy of Chanel by Greg Williams

Karl Lagerfeld gets glücklich, cranks out some Rammstein on his guitar.

Just announced:  Brad Pitt will be the first male face of Chanel No. 5.  Don't know about you, but methinks the Karl had a little some-sing to do wees zat. Word is that he'll be filming the spot in London this week (where his family has recently bought a home, naturally) and will make a 7-figure paycheque for his hotness.

Mamma Mia

With Mom's Day less than a week away I have yet to actually get anything for my wonderful mom.  Sure, I've thought about it, (moms always taught us it's the thought that counts...) but doesn't a thoughtful present count just a little more?  Whether you're on a strict budget or you've got money to spare, these luxurious last-minute finds will make her feel incredibly loved this Mom's Day, from fantastic new under-$15 tunes to that Canon Rebel she's always wanted.  After all, she changed your diapers;  Consider this karmic payback.  And to all you moms out there, Happy Mother's Day this Sunday!  I never expected this but now that I'm a mom, I'm genuinely most excited about the card.
